Summer in Brixen/ Plose/ Dolomites

Summertime

Towards the end of May, the hay harvest begins at the Hörmannhof. The scent of freshly mown meadows and fragrant hay lets us smell and feel the summer.

Starting from the Hörmannhof, you have some of the most beautiful hiking trails in the Eisack Valley right on your doorstep.

Enjoy an eventful day on our local Plose mountain.

The Plose cable car is just a few minutes away from the Hörmannhof.

Travel up the mountain and discover the various hiking trails.

Hiking on the Plose

The family-friendly Woody Walk and hiking trail leads from the Plose mountain station to the Rossalm. This Kneipp path is also suitable for pushchairs and offers children of all ages lots of attractions and adventure games.

The Brixner Höhenweg, also known as the “Zirmhöhenweg”, also starts from the Plose mountain station and leads to the “Ochsenalm”. This is a scenically beautiful panoramic trail with views of the Brixen valley basin and the surrounding mountain scenery.

The Plose Three Peaks Tour, starting at the Plose mountain station, leads to the Plosehütte, eastwards along the ridge to the Pfannspitz and on to the Gabler.
The descent is via the Rossalm and back to Kreuztal.

Paragliding

There is no better view than when paragliding from the Plose to the ‘Mairdorf’ landing site.
This landing site is just a few metres away from the Hörmannhof.

Biking in the area of Brixen & Plose

The bikers start directly from our farm into the valley or to the Plose cable car of St.Andrä.

The starting point for the Brixen Bikepark is the mountain station of the Plose cable car at Kreuztal. There you can also rent bikes of all kinds.

Various MTB and e-MTB routes and trails run along the Plose, some of which even lead down to the episcopal town of Brixen. There are also up to 2000 meters of altitude covered.

Pilgrimage church on Freienbühel

From various starting directions and altitudes, or directly from the

Hörmannhof, a hiking trail leads to St.Andrä, to the valley station of the Plose cable car and further uphill through the forest to the pilgrimage church at Freienbühel.

From there you can also hike up to Kreuztal or on to Palmschoss and then take the cable car or bus back to St. Andrä.

Brixen

is the town where the Eisack river from the Brenner Pass and the Rienz river from the Pustertal valley meet together.

Particularly worth seeing is the cathedral square in the centre of Bressanone/Brixen, with the baroque cathedral, the frescoes in the cloister, the White Tower and the Hofburg with the diocesan and nativity scene museum.

The historic town centre, with its arcades, shops, bridges, avenues and parks, is equally astonishing.

CuItural programme

For those interested in culture, we recommend a visit to the historic Neustift monastery, which is close to Brixen, Neustift monastery with its collegiate church, winery and monastery garden.

We also recommend a visit to the castles in Feldthurns and Rodeneck.

Swimming at the Acquarena

The Acquarena indoor and outdoor pool in Brixen offers relaxation and recreation for the whole family. The swimming and sauna areas pamper you with wellness, fitness and beauty programmes.

The Acquarena is open 365 days a year and thanks to the Brixen Card you can enjoy free admission to the pool area for 3 hours every day (except Sundays and public holidays).
